Whoa. I have got a ton of LJ updating to do. I have to post the final chapter of DMBW and all six chapters that I have of "Hopeless Wishing", my (relatively) new Wes/Lilah fic. I've been putting all of this off because it's such a pain to go through and code everything.
In the meantime, a small rant: What is with all the Michael Gambon hate? Am I the only person in the world who thought he was SOTOTALLYAWESOME as Dumbledore? My own mother, with whom I usually agree about everything, thinks he was horrible.
There seem to be three main reasons why people don't particularly like him:
1) His ever-changing accent. Sometimes he's Irish, sometimes he's not. As for myself, I don't find this particularly unrealistic. I'm from the south. Usually I have a Southern accent. But occasionally, if I'm talking in a lower voice, I don't. Personally, I don't even notice Gambon's accent that much.
2) He's energetic. REALLY energetic. Which I think is great. Don't get me wrong, Richard Harris was a wonderful actor (God rest his soul). But he always looked like he was sleepwalking as Dumbledore. I think our favorite headmaster should be buoyant, just like good ol' Gambon is.
3) That little scene in GoF where he rushes at Harry. See, this is one of the reasons why I think Gambon is Just. That. Cool. Why shouldn't Dumbledore panic, I ask? Harry's his favorite student (to all appearances), and he's just been put in a heck of a lot of danger thanks to his name popping out. It was a nice little human touch, in my humble opinion. Dumbledore's not perfect.
Oops. This small rant turned into a kinda medium-sized rant. Ah, well.
Current book: Wicked (I'm a little bored with it, to tell the truth.)
